Tweed ist für vieles berühmt, doch Nachgiebigkeit gehört traditionell nicht dazu. How much give is realistic, where the stretch comes from, and what it changes in tailoring – that is what this guide settles.

Woher die Elastizität kommt

Zwei Mechanismen bringen Nachgiebigkeit in ein Gewebe. Der erste ist mechanisch: gekräuselte Garne, lockerere Zwirnungen und Bindungen, die Fäden leicht verschieben lassen, bevor sie straff werden. Mechanische Dehnung ist subtil, wird eher als Komfort denn als Elastizität wahrgenommen und hält das Leben des Kleidungsstücks über, weil keine Faser die Dehnung übernimmt. Der zweite ist Elastan: ein bis zwei Prozent Spandex-Filament in Kette oder Schuss, was echte, messbare Nachgiebigkeit erzeugt. Diese Spanne von 1–2 Prozent ist bewusst gewählt. Darunter bewegt sich der Stoff kaum; darüber beginnt sich der Wollanteil wie eine Stretch-Strickware anzufühlen, und der Tweed-Charakter verliert seine Knackigkeit.

Wie viel Dehnbarkeit die Konfektion tatsächlich braucht

For a fitted jacket, the critical zones are across the back, over the elbows and through the armhole. Comfort-stretch tweed at the 1-2 percent elastane level gives enough crosswise movement to reach forward without the jacket pulling at the button, which is the test most wearers notice. Full four-way stretch, the kind performance wear chases, is the wrong target here: tailoring needs recovery more than raw give, and wool’s natural resilience is what snaps the cloth back into shape after each wear. When comparing cloths, weigh a swatch in hand and stretch it across the width; the cloth that fights back evenly recovers, and the cloth that stretches easily and settles flat will bag at the seat and elbows within a season.

Was sich dadurch in der Werkstatt ändert

Stretch-Tweed verlangt der Verarbeitung drei Anpassungen ab. Die Schnitte brauchen etwas mehr Bewegungsspielraum, besonders über dem Rücken, weil der Stoff Bewegungsfreiheit beisteuert, die früher der Schnitt geliefert hat. Fixierbare Einlagen müssen auf den Stretchgrad abgestimmt werden: eine starre Einlage, die auf elastanhaltigen Stoff aufgebügelt wird, bildet eine harte Kante, sobald die Trägerin das erste Mal greift. Und die Bügeltemperaturen bleiben moderat, denn Elastanfilament ist hitzeempfindlich, und ein heißes Eisen lässt die Oberfläche dauerhaft glänzen oder wellen. Nichts davon ist kompliziert, aber alle drei Punkte gehören ins Tech Pack und nicht in die Änderungsschneiderei.
