From Sketch to Fabric in 4 Steps

While standard mills take 60+ days for sampling and lack the capability to engineer specialty yarns, our 30+ years of fancy yarn expertise and vertical production enable a fundamentally different approach.

1. Send Us Your Vision

Upload a photo, physical swatch, or tech pack. Unlike other mills that require large minimums for custom development, we analyze your design and provide a feasibility assessment within 48 hours — at no cost.

2. Fancy Yarn Engineering

This is where we separate from competitors. We don't buy standard yarns — we engineer custom bouclé, slub, feather, and metallic yarns in-house. The texture you envision literally cannot exist without this step.

3. Rapid Hand-Loom Sampling

Within 7-10 days, you receive A4 hand-loom samples and lab dips. If adjustments are needed, we iterate fast. Compare this to European mills that take 4-6 weeks for the first strike-off.

4. Scale Production with Consistency

Approved designs move to industrial looms with strict batch control. Our archiving system guarantees 95%+ consistency on re-orders — so next season's production matches this season's sample.

Why Fashion Brands Choose Fursone for Custom Fabric Development

Linton-Style at 1/3 the Cost

Complex multicolor bouclé and fancy yarn tweeds engineered to rival European mills like Linton and Malhia Kent — at a B2B price that transforms your margin structure.

Target Price Engineering

Love a $50/m Italian tweed but need $25/m? We reverse-engineer the yarn composition and weave structure to hit your target price without losing the artisan aesthetic.

In-House Fancy Yarn R&D

Unlike mills that buy standard yarns, we engineer custom bouclé, slub, feather, and metallic yarns in-house. This is why our textures cannot be found on Alibaba.

Not all textile manufacturers are equal. Here is how our approach to custom fabric development compares to standard mills.

Tweed Fabric Sourcing FAQ

MOQ, Lead Time, Certifications, Logistics, QC & IP — Answered

What is the MOQ for tweed fabric?

Ready-stock: 100 meters — about one roll — with 85% of orders dispatched within 72 hours. Custom development starts at 1,000 meters per color, the minimum needed to keep specialty yarns like bouclé stable across bulk. See our ready-stock and custom programs.

How long does sampling and bulk production take?

Sampling: 7–10 days for hand-loom A4 samples and lab dips. Bulk: 25–35 days after sample approval, or 15–20 days for rush orders. We recommend a 50-meter sample roll before bulk to confirm hand-feel and drape. Request a timeline for your order.

Do you ship fabric internationally?

Yes — worldwide on FOB and DDP terms via Shanghai and Ningbo ports, with sample yardage flown out by DHL/FedEx in 3–5 days. Main markets: the EU, US, Nordic, Russia and Southeast Asia. DDP includes customs clearance to your door.

What certifications do you offer?

Every batch is tested to ISO methods — 12945-2 (pilling ≥3–4), 105-C06 (color fastness), 6330 (shrinkage) and AATCC 20 (composition). OEKO-TEX, GRS and SGS third-party certification can be coordinated on request; GRS fits orders of 1,000m+ with brand compliance needs.

How do you handle fabric quality issues?

A four-stage QC process: raw-material inspection, in-process monitoring, finished-fabric testing and pre-shipment verification. Each batch is checked for pilling, shrinkage and color fastness, and every roll ships with a tech data sheet. Our recipe archive holds 95%+ re-order consistency. Details in our services.

Is my custom fabric design protected?

Yes — we sign an NDA with all OEM clients and keep a digital pattern archive per customer, so your custom designs are never resold. That archive also guarantees 95%+ re-order consistency season after season. Learn more about custom manufacturing.

Is Fursone a factory or a trading company?

A vertically integrated manufacturer. We run 300+ looms in Longgang, Wenzhou and control the process from specialty yarn R&D to finished fabric, reinforced by a family joint-inventory model. That gives factory-direct pricing and full batch traceability. About Fursone.

Can you match a fabric from a photo or sample?

A physical swatch is ideal, but our R&D team achieves a strong match from high-resolution photos and a tech pack, with 98% Pantone color accuracy. We can also engineer a target-price alternative to premium Linton-style tweeds. Send your reference via contact.

What does custom fabric sampling cost?

Hand-loom sampling runs $100–$300, refundable when you place a bulk order of 1,000 meters or more. Ready-stock A4 swatches are free. For bulk runs we recommend a 50-meter sample roll first to verify texture and drape on your garment.

Will wool tweed pill or shrink?

Wool naturally pills with friction — we control it to grade 3–4 (ISO 12945-2) but cannot promise zero pilling, especially at high wool content. Shrinkage is held to ≤±3–5% (ISO 6330). Read our honest quality stance in the about section.
