Tweed Fabric Sourcing FAQ: MOQ, Lead Time, Quality & Shipping

Ready-stock fabric starts at one roll (approximately 20-50 meters). Custom production starts at 300 meters per colour or 300 meters per design: enough to build a complete sample collection and test the market while keeping your cost and risk under control. Yes. We hold a stable ready-stock range of best-sellers and seasonal hero styles, each listed with weight, composition, stock and recommended end-use, suitable for sample garments, live-commerce trials and small-batch launches.

Once the style and quantity are confirmed and 100% T/T is received, ready-stock orders are typically dispatched in 3-7 days.

We pre-book yarn and greige for core styles. Long-term clients get priority allocation and peak-season capacity. A discontinued design can usually be reproduced to the original recipe from 500 meters.

150-260 g/m² suits spring/summer light jackets and shirts; 260-380 g/m² suits early autumn and climate-controlled commuting; 380-500 g/m² is the core for autumn/winter womenswear coats and Chanel-style jackets; 500-650 g+ is for deep-winter heavy coats. Choose by climate and retail price band.

Yes, within a range of about ±5-10%. Give us a target GSM at development. A larger change needs a yarn and construction review.

No. Multi-colour, multi-fibre tweed cannot be identical in chemical percentage from batch to batch. We keep visual effect, weight and hand-feel consistent within the agreed range for the same recipe, and issue a composition test report for each batch.

We do not take bulk from an A4 swatch. We weave 50-100 meters of sample yardage on the same process as bulk, so you can check weight, hand-feel and loft and cut a full garment. After approval we run production and can sign off the first dyelot. Request a sample.

Wool pills with friction: that is a fibre characteristic, not a defect. Lighter weights may shed slightly; heavier weights shed less. Anti-pilling finishing can be added, targeting pilling of around grade 3-4 (ISO 12945-2). We cannot promise zero pilling at high wool content. Read our honest quality stance on the About page.

Wash, rub and perspiration fastness are typically around grade 3-4 or above. Dark shades meet this by default; lighter shades can have the test standard adjusted on request.

Yes. Custom development starts at 300 meters per colour. We specialise in multi-colour blends, slub yarns, textured effects and stripe effects worked up to your brief. Start your custom project.

The opposite: we control risk up front. An A4 swatch shows the look, not the real weight or hand-feel. Validating on loom-woven yardage makes bulk run more smoothly, so overall time is shorter.

Standard custom production is 25-35 days after sample approval. Rush can be held to 15-20 days if capacity and yarn are coordinated in advance. Re-orders run 25-30 days.

Colour can follow LAB or Pantone with lab dips for approval before weaving. Weight can usually be fine-tuned. Composition can be optimised to the market and price band.

Small-B orders are 100% T/T. Large-B programmes can discuss 30% T/T plus 70% letter of credit, or another mix that balances speed and security.

Small orders have short cycles. A simple payment path speeds booking and dispatch, and avoids chasing credit terms on short runs.

Yes. Default is FOB Shanghai or Ningbo. DDP, DDU, nominated-warehouse and FBA delivery are available. Freight is quoted by region and weight.

Depending on weight, mid-to-heavy tweed is typically about 800-1200 metres per 40HQ. We calculate against the actual order.

Product testing can be arranged to your requirements and to the standards of your target market. If your project needs a specific sustainability certification, we can arrange it on a project basis; the exact cost and lead time are confirmed separately before production begins.

Yes. Those finishes can be added when specified in advance. Cost and lead time are adjusted accordingly.

Yes. Based on weight, hand-feel and end-use we can suggest coat or jacket silhouettes so designers spend less time on the wrong block.

Recipes and process parameters are archived. Re-orders follow the original recipe; colour, weight and hand-feel typically hold around 95% similarity or above. Because tweed uses multi-fibre yarns, the exact composition percentage cannot be identical in every batch.

If a serious quality issue falls outside the agreed range, we can discuss replacement, a discount or another remedy, depending on the actual issue.

Priority on best-sellers, peak-season capacity reservation, pre-season sampling and lock-in, and more flexible price and payment terms discussed case by case.

We source raw materials directly in China (mainly from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai) and produce through selected specialist partner mills.
