A fabric quote is never just a price. Two suppliers can quote the same unit cost and end up wildly different on your true landed cost, because everything around the price – the MOQ, the lead time, the sampling, the reorder consistency – is what actually breaks your budget. The price is the smallest line

It is tempting to sort quotes by unit price. But a fabric order is a system, not a line item. If a cheaper quote forces you to over-order to hit its MOQ, locks you into a 8-week lead time, or charges a premium for sampling, the discount disappears. The unit price is the smallest line on a fabric invoice; the others are where the money hides.

MOQ is the first hidden cost

The minimum order quantity shapes everything else. A supplier quoting a low price but a 3,000M MOQ makes you buy stock you may not need. One with a modest MOQ and ready stock lets you order what you can actually use. Reorder consistency is the third

On a bouclé or tweed, consistent weave and a stable ISO grade 3-4 anti-pilling rating are what protect your repeat order. A quote that looks cheap once but drifts on reorder is expensive three times over.

Certification and traceability

If you are selling into an eco line, the certification has to be real. Ask for the certificate number and check its scope, not just its name. Consider asking about the OEKO-TEX standard 100 listing and the recycled-content percentage behind a GRS claim, because 30% and 50% are different claims.
